As you may know, some very popular foods could lead to problems with your breath. For that reason—along with a few others—many people tend to use breath mints and chewing gum. While these are useful options, they only mask bad breath without addressing the root of the problem. In other words, if you’re interested in improving your breath, you may want to consider using mouthwash.

Mouthwashes and mints can be useful if some of your favorite foods and drinks—including coffee and garlic—are the cause of your bad breath. Sugarless chewing gum or breath mints can mask these unpleasant odors. Still, if you’re dealing with bad breath frequently, you may be dealing with more severe issues.

While chewing gum and breath mints can cover up bad breath, mouthwash can actually help you fight against the problems that cause bad breath. Furthermore, mouthwash can also be especially useful if you’ve already been diagnosed with gum disease or tooth decay. Similarly, mouthwash is most useful when combined with daily brushing and flossing.
